With Halloween just around the corner I've been busy learning all the customs surrounding this holiday so as not to make a ghoul fool of myself when the big day arrives. You might be thinking, "But Elizabeth, this is your third Halloween. Surely you know what goes on by now." And to some extent you're correct. This is technically my third Halloween and I should be an expert by now. But as it turns out I slept through my first Halloween...
I fared no better last year. The curvature of my cheeks made the duck suit a tight fit, cutting off the circulation to my brain and ruining my ability to recall anything that happened that day.

So this year I've had to start from scratch. I've been reading Halloween books, learning Halloween songs, drawing Halloween pictures, wearing my Halloween costume and destroying all our Halloween decorations. I even carved a jack-o-lantern! Here's a sample of my work:
Translation:
Five little pumpkins sitting on a gate.
The first one said, "Oh my, it's getting late!"
The second one said, "There are witches in the air."
The third one said, "But we don't care!"
The fourth one said, "Let's run and run and run."
The fifth one said, "I'm ready for some fun!"
Ooooh went the wind and out went the light,
And the five little pumpkins rolled out of sight.

What a great pumpkin Elizabeth. You certainly know how to pick a good one with a great stem. You will be a Halloween pro before you know it.
